Ashwagandha is an adaptogen herb.  It is used to help the body adapt to its environment.  Common uses include arthritis, nervousness, and anxiousness, difficulty sleeping, wheezing, and other respiratory complaints, menstrual stress, and other stressors.  It is a calming herb and helps to decrease swelling and blood pressure.  It also supports the immune system.
