Peppermint (Mentha xpiperita)
DESCRIPTION:
Peppermint has a strong, minty scent that has been steam distilled from the leaves. This product is available in a 15 mL amber glass euro bottle or a 10 mL amber glass roller bottle for easy topical use.
All Wellness Warrior essential oils are organic.
COMMON USES:
Peppermint is a great choice for the digestive system, muscles and bones, as well as the nervous and respiratory systems, and skin. Peppermint is one of the oils that has hundreds, if not thousands of uses. It has been used to relieve headaches, sore muscles, abdominal complaints, digestion issues, motion sickness, as well as nausea and vomiting. Peppermint can be used aromatically in a diffuser to lighten and uplift the mood, help with anger and depression, as well as to clean the environment.
PROPERTIES:
Analgesic, antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, and invigorating.
HOW TO USE:
Aromatic – Add 3-4 drops of oil to distilled water and diffuse; inhale directly by cupping your hands around an open bottle and breathe in deeply through your nose.
Topical – Directly apply 1-3 drops of oil to the area of concern or to reflex points (this oil can be applied “neat” with no dilution, or dilute using a carrier oil for people with sensitive skin).
Internal – Place 1-2 drops of oil under the tongue; add 1-2 drop of oil to 8oz of water and drink. Do not use the roller bottle internally.
Oral - Apply oil directly in the mouth using a finger to the area of concern. Do not use the roller bottle inside the mouth.
Children – Safe for children with proper dilution. Please refer to our Wellness Warrior Essential Oil Dosing Guide.
CAUTION:
Peppermint is considered a "hot" oil, meaning that in some sensitive people, it should be diluted. As with all essential oils, it is important to test a small area for skin sensitivity before applying without a carrier oil. Wellness Warrior suggests diluting essential oils with a vegetable-based carrier oil, such as raw coconut or jojoba oil. The roller bottle is not intended for internal use and should only be used on people larger than 80 lbs without further dilution. Repeated use of this oil may cause contact sensitization. Peppermint has no known side effects but it is recommended to use with caution during pregnancy.
