Sage (Salvia officinalis)
DESCRIPTION:
Sage has a recognizably sweet, sharp, aroma. The oil is steam distilled from the flowers and leaves. This product is imported from Hungary. This product is available in a 15 mL amber glass euro bottle.
All Wellness Warrior essential oils are organic.
COMMON USES:
The health benefits of sage are nearly limitless from topical applications to help smooth and repair skin, to fighting fungal infections. It's antimicrobial properties serve as an excellent antiseptic for wounds, sore, ulcers, incisions, and skin tears, including post-natal birthing injuries. Sage has anti-inflammatory properties which lead to this oil being an excellent choice for inflamed skin. Safe to be used directly at the site of infections, however dilution may be required for those with sensitive skin. The antispasmodic properties of sage make this a safe choice to use topically to relax the muscles, or aromatically to calm the body as a whole.
PROPERTIES:
Antifungal, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antibacterial, cholagogue, choleretic, cicatrisant, depurative, digestive, disinfectant, emenagogue, expectorant, febrifuge, laxative, and stimulating.
HOW TO USE:
Aromatic – Add 3-4 drops of oil to distilled water and diffuse; inhale directly by cupping your hands around an open bottle and breathe in deeply through your nose.
Topical – Directly apply 1-3 drops of oil to area of concern or to reflex points (this oil can be applied “neat” with no dilution, or dilute using a carrier oil for people with sensitive skin).
Internal – Place 1-2 drops of oil under tongue; add 1-2 drop of oil to 8oz of water and drink; use as a flavoring in cooking.
Children – Safe for children with proper dilution. Please refer to our Wellness Warrior Essential Oil Dosing Guide.
CAUTION:
As with all essential oils, it is important to test a small area for skin sensitivity before applying without a carrier oil. Wellness Warrior suggests diluting essential oils with a vegetable based carrier oil, such as raw coconut or jojoba oil.
